The soft blue and lavender tones of the sky contrast against the deep blue Pacific Ocean and the stark white ship. In the far misty background another large sailing ship catches the wind as if possibly in a race with the one in the foreground. The painting is not titled but has a Santa Barbara frame shop sticker on the back and is faintly signed "Raymond Drew" and dated 19..(?) in the lower right corner of the front in such a way as to blend in rather than distract from the waves.Biography: Adelbert (“Peter”) Raymond Drew.Born in Iowa on Nov. 24, 1884. He was a resident of Los Angeles in 1916-32 and Santa Barbara in 1949. He painted landscapes and seascapes of the surrounding area, the desert at Palm Springs, and the Sierra before his demise in Los Angeles on November 11, 1967.
